About Electronics & ICT Academy, IIT Guwahati

The Electronics & ICT Academy (E&ICT Academy) at the Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati (IIT Guwahati) was established under the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MeitY) scheme, “Financial Assistance for setting up Electronics and ICT Academies.”

The project officially began on March 26, 2015, and the Academy was formally inaugurated by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi on January 19, 2016.

Core Objectives and Impact

The primary objective of the Academy is to provide specialized training in emerging areas of electronics and ICT. This training targets:

  1. Engineering college faculty in advanced ICT topics.
  2. Faculty from Arts, Commerce, and Science colleges, Polytechnics, etc., focusing on IT tools to enhance productivity in their domains.

To achieve this, the Academy has developed state-of-the-art facilities. Over the past 10 years, it has conducted 400+ programs, both in-person and online, benefiting over 25,000 participants, primarily from the North Eastern States.

The Academy has signed MoUs with various Institutes and Universities for hosting programs and collaborates with Industries as Training/Industry Partners for hands-on sessions.
